
The TENNESSEE ORGANIZATION OF LOCKSMITHS will hold our Annual Membership Meeting, Classes, and a PRP on the weekend of March 19, 20, and 21. All activities will take place at the Hampton Inn and Suites off I-40 at exit 226, Mt. Juliet Rd. ( TN 171), Mt. Juliet. See below for room reservation information and a location map. Classes will be held in the Juliet and Board Rooms.
All classes are approved for CEUs.
Friday, March 19: Members of The TOOL Board will be available for informal conversation with members at a time and place to be announced.
Class Option 1: State Specific Life Safety Codes and Changes taught by Dwayne Hicks, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Class Option 2: Picking and Impressioning taught by Jim Watt, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The TOOL Annual Meeting will be held at 5:30 in one of the meeting rooms. Among the items on the agenda are an amendment to the ByLaws and election of TOOL Secretary, Treasurer and the Middle Region Vice President.
MTLA Membership Meeting: 6:45 pm.
Class Option 3: Tubular Lock Service taught by Jim Watt, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
PRP test: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. You must have preregistered with ALOA using the form. Be sure to follow all instructions on the form and submit it with your payment to ALOA at least 15 days before the test.
Dwayne Hicks has been an employee in the code enforcement profession for 15 years. He has been
involved in every aspect of the industry. He started his codes enforcement career with the City
of LaVergne, Tennessee in 1992 as a building inspector and codes enforcement officer. While
there he started a planning department, an engineering department, a fire marshal's office and a
hazardous materials team.
After leaving LaVergne, Dwayne became an Instructor for the State of Tennessee's Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy. He developed and taught several classes on almost every subject that is involved in the code enforcement field. He also taught courses to planning commission and board of zoning appeals members statewide on their comliance with the state law.
Dwayne was then promoted to the position of Director of Manufactured Housing for the State Fire Marshal's Office. He worked very closely with all local building officials and the Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association to build a rapport between the manufactured housing industry and building officials. While in this position he developed and taught the training materials used to license manufactured housing installers.

Jim Watt, CML, CPS started locksmithing in Seattle in May of 1975 and subsequently moved to Missoula, MT to work for Art and Ray's Lock and Safe in November of the same year. He purchased Art and Ray's in 1976. In 1977, Jim joined ALOA. In 1984, he co-founded the Montana Locksmith Association and served as its first President. In 1987, he was elected to the ALOA Board of Directors, serving as a Director and then as Northwest Vice President of ALOA until 1997. Always concerned with education of the locksmith, he has developed and taught numberous courses covering impressioning, picking, tubular key locks, basic locksmithing, basic safe servicing, and basic and advanced master keying in many states and at many ALOA conventions.
